Week 5A: Defining your target market

After reviewing the Subway and Hungry Bear websites, I have concluded that there are several differences between the two company websites. The first difference is that they use different color schemes to grab the consumers' attention. For instance, Subway utilizes vibrant colors that grab your attention like yellow, green, and white. While Hungry Bear on the other hand uses more dull colors on their website such as tan, maroon, black, and white. In regards to the visual appearance of the website, beside the colors, Hungry Bear lists the company favorite items on the homepage. Which gets straight to the point and helps a new customer get a general idea of what they are famous for. As for Subway, the homepage lists the new sandwich, as well as other information that they feel is important for customers to know.

Based on my observations of both of the websites I would say that the demographics are the same between them. I think that the target market is adults that enjoy a good sandwich. I cant say if they are age or gender specific because everyone loves a good sandwich! Although both websites brag about using fresh ingredients, I do believe that Subway has a different psychographic that they target. I honestly feel that Subway aims to reach individuals who are aware of health trends and prefer to eat "clean". This seems to be the ongoing tone/message of the site because they have the nutritional facts in the menu and the About Me page discusses their responsibility to provide sustainable products.
