Week 4A: Aesthetics, Design, and Branding

After viewing the Jami Lin Passions (jamilin.com) website, I have found a few things that may be potential problems for visitors. The first potential problem is that it feels that the content is somewhat clumped together because it is not spaced out in a way that makes it visually appealing. For example, the header has several pictures and a lot of information in one rectangular box. As you go down the page, it just seems like a lot of information to digest. The second problem is that the website is kind of monochromatic. There aren't many vibrant colors that make the page feel inviting. The last problem is that it just doesn't seem simple enough to get to the point.

The second website is Gates N Fences (gatesnfences.com). The first potential problem is that the besides the title and header font, all the font is the same size so it is hard to indicate what is the most important information to view first. The second issue is that the menu runs along the side of the page and feels cramp. It may have a better feel to have a pull down menu so that the visitor is not overwhelmed with having too many options to choose from. The last issue is that all the information is bunched together and not broken up with different colors and larger sized pictures.

After going through these two websites and seeing some of the common issues that visitors may experience, it is concluded that a few changes can be made to improve the visitor's experience. One of the changes are to break up the content so that it is visually appealing to the visitor. Another improvement is to maybe add more friendly colors that are warm and inviting. These are just a few factors that I feel will help the websites and make the visitor experience better.

On the other hand, I feel that the Head Hunter Hairstyling website (headhunterhairstyling.com) is very user friendly. I really like that the home page is a video of their service and scrolling down the page is the welcome. Then just the social media links and main contact info remain on the page. I feel this gets straight to the point. Also the menu is simple and gets straight to the point. This is a great experience for me, as I would imagine all visitors.

Another website that offers a great visitor experience from the list is Apple (apple.com). The most important information is at the top of the page. They catch your attention immediately with the font size and contrast to color while selling their products to you. The menu is simple and easily laid out. The most vibrant colors on the website come from the screens of the products. This is another great selling point that catches the visitors' attention. Overall the website provides a great user experience.
